THE saying goes, “if you want something done, ask a busy person’’.
Well that seems to be the case for Nubeena’s Joel McKean, who was recently elected unopposed as president of the Tasman Ex Services Club.
At just 23 years of age, Mr McKean is the youngest ever president of the club.
An army reservist, local beef cattle farmer, volunteer fire-fighter and small business owner, Mr McKean recently took on the role after the position became vacant.
“My goal is to keep the place going well,’’ Mr McKean said.
“It’s a great place to come and chat and talk about your week.
“We have 356 members and I want to keep the community spirit alive.
“We pride ourselves on the club being family friendly with good food that isn’t too expensive.’’
Having lived in Nubeena most of his life, the things he loves most about the area is that it is by the sea, laid back and friendly.
Mr McKean spent two years in the Northern Territory and NSW.
“It’s good to get off the island, but It’s great to come back,’’ he said.
